Artist’s Statement: Influenced by the Maya art reliefs and colourful glyphs, this show features a series of “cut canvas” which is a style Don Originated in Bermuda to emphasize dimensional formand colour in a relief format. Each painting has a jewel-like quality using metalic paints, rich textures and colour. Cut canvas is literally cutting apart the canvas and reassembling it on another canvas. By reassembling the canvas it allows for editing and final creative considerations t give an overall feeling of dimension.
