Martha Vaughn describes her work saying ‘these photographs document the ordinary, everyday world we live in whether it is a still-life or an abstraction. Photography has taught me to see in new ways and find pleasure in simple objects or scenes: fruit or flowers arranged against various backgrounds, a simple wall of peeling aint, the bottoms of overturned boats. Many of these photographs were printed on watercolour paper by an inkjet printer in a process called Giclee (“spray of ink”) in French). Others are Cibachrime and Polaroid transfer prints. Most of these have been taken in Bermuda, Martha’s Vinyard, Italy and Tunisia.
