Exhibiting At BSoA

The versatile exhibiting space of BSoA Galleries is situated at the City Hall and Arts Centre in the centre of the City of Hamilton.  Known as “The People’s Gallery”, it is a venue for shows by a diverse variety of artists, hailing from a broad spectrum of social and professional backgrounds and walks of life.  The paintings hanging from our walls come from children, doctors, aspiring artists, accountants and senior citizens alike.

Shows change on a three weekly cycle with the official opening taking place on a Friday evening 5 – 7 pm.  A bar with wine, beer and sodas, and trays of cheese and crackers are usually provided.

There are two ways to exhibit your artwork at the BSoA Galleries.

Submit your artwork for one our “Members’’ shows – there are at least five a year, one for each season and an annual photographic show.  Some of these shows are juried and sometimes there is a theme.  BSoA charge 30% commission on sales

There are some simple guidelines for exhibiting in this way:

  • You need to be a current member of BSoA
  • You may submit up to 6 pieces – no restrictions on size or subject matter unless specified in the exhibiting schedule
  • Your artwork should be ready for hanging/display.  Paintings should be fitted with hanging devices (wires preferred) and 3D work should have stable mountings/stands
  • Your artwork should be submitted by the date specified to guarantee inclusion
  • Artwork which has been exhibited previously may not be admissible again

There are also sometimes groups shows such as “TechArt” which are open to non members.

Alternatively, you could rent a gallery space for your own show.  Four different exhibition spaces offer a choice of size.  The Boutique Studios are ideal for one person shows and new exhibitors, whilst the Edinburgh Gallery is double the size for a greater selection of work.  The main “Onions” Gallery is ideal for group shows or shows of large works.

See the BSoA Gallery Specifications and Rental Rates for more information.
