BSoA Galleries is the ideal place to appreciate Bermuda’s current art scene. Known as ‘The People’s Gallery’, artists of all ages can exhibit work in a wide variety of media.

Shows run on a three weekly cycle so there is always something new and interesting to see. Openings usually take place between 5-7 pm on Friday evenings when there is an open bar.

This inviting space is conveniently located on the top floor of City Hall in Hamilton. Gallery hours are 10am to 4pm Monday through Friday, and 10:00am to 2:00pm on Saturdays (closed for public holidays). Admission is free and the Galleries are easily accessible by elevator. There are various opportunities for exhibiting artwork; pieces can be submitted for inclusion in the members or open shows, some of which have themes and some of which are juried, and up to six pieces can be submitted. There is no entry fee and commission is sales is charged at 30% (on the unframed value) (minimum fee of $15 apply).

Alternatively if an artist wishes to hold their own show, the various galleries offer a choice of capacity depending on the requirements.  In addition to the rental fee commission on sales is charged at 15% (on unframed value/$15 commission fee applies).

The calendar of dates for 2010 has recently been plotted and spaces are available to book.

Onions Gallery      

The Onions Gallery is the largest of our four galleries. The overall size is approximately 60 feet by 30 feet  (1,800 square feet) and is extensively lit by high windows on the western side.  The walls provide for approximately 100 running feet for displaying artwork which can be expanded by an additional 310 running feet with the various moving panels which are available.  This Gallery is a versatile space which lends itself to multi talented shows of all mediums and is also ideal for business or social events such as presentations, cocktail receptions and dinner parties. This space can be further enhanced by encompassing the “Studio Galleries” which extends the overall size to 76 feet x 30 feet (2,280 square feet).

Edinburgh Gallery   

The Edinburgh Gallery provides a more private environment for the single artist or small group shows.  At  approximately 33 feet by 14 feet (462 square feet / 566 running feet), this intimate gallery can house additional moveable panels and plinths to enlarge and enhance the hanging space.

Studio A & B    

Two boutique galleries, Studio A and B are a recent addition to our space and each gallery is approximately 14 feet by 15 feet (210 square feet / 51 running feet).  These studios could be rented together which, with the centre panel removed would provide 420 square feet and 36 running feet.  This space can also be incorporated into the Onions Gallery providing an overall space of 76 feet x 30 feet (2,280 square feet).
