Onions Gallery: January 27 – February 17 2012
“Festival Impressions” is the first exhibition of its kind organized by The Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts. Joining together the visual and performing arts, it showcases some of the artistic influence and impact the annual Festival has had in our Bermuda community.
Festival commissioned work of professional artists, inspired original works of local school children as well as video and photographs of Festival workshops and seminars, are here. This exhibition also features a series of free live performances.
As Ian Davidson, Chairman of the Bermuda Festival comments, “The Festival’s principal purpose is to present a programme of world class performing artists that inspires, educates and entertains. All of the Art on display in this exhibition has a direct connection to specific Festival themes. Bringing the visual and performing arts together in this manner makes it all worthwhile.”
The Bermuda Festival was established in 1976 to help foster a love and appreciation in the local community of classical music through exposure to live concerts by artists of international repute. Over time, in its quest to reach out to every member of the community, it has diversified and now covers the entire spectrum of the performing arts.
The Festival has also developed an Outreach Programme that provides special performances and workshop opportunities for school students and others in the community, given by the Festival performers while they are on the Island.
The Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts runs from 17th January to 26th February, and information on the performance programme can be found at www.bermudafestival.org.
